Training & Support – SEO for writers


Working in Digital Marketing in a publishers means that as well as content I personally optimise for search engines it is important to build relationships with staff to understand the benefits their work will have if they take on board tips to optimise the content they write. In ongoing support and the occasional training session I have demonstrated how writers can utilise SEO to make their content reach a wider audience, something every writer wants to do!

I show them what parts of the page a search engine spider will look at when they crawl a page and how they can optimise their headlines and content so it is taking into account the keywords that will place their articles higher in the search engine results pages. This goes on to give them an understanding of how search engines work so they can see why certain copy ranks higher than others. I also show them how they can use tools like the Google Ad Words keyword tool and Google trends to see what key phrases are popular.
